Reading List 2012

For 2012 I thought it would be a neat idea to see how many books I read in a year. I read a fair amount but my memory is absolutely horrible and sometimes I have a hard time remembering what the book was about, what I enjoyed about the story or even that I read it at all. That makes me sad...so this year I am going to document my reading adventures here on this blog.

My 2012 reading adventure started off with a children's book called Oddfellow's Orphanage by Emily Winfield Martin. I discovered Emily through her Etsy shop, The Black Apple, and have been a big fan ever since. So when I found out she was writing and illustrating a book I began anxiously awaiting it's release. I bought Oddfellow's Orphanage the day it came out and I read it in 2 evenings. I could have easily read it all the moment I got it but I was enjoying it so much that I didn't want it to end so I forced myself to stretch it over 2 days. It is such a lovely collection of stories filled with dancing bears (!!!!), adventures, sea monsters and beautiful illustrations.  I can't say enough nice things about the book or the wonderful world within.

Next on the reading list is Wildwood written by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis. This is another book intended for children that I picked up on a whim one day while browsing in a book store. The cover art caught my eye and upon further inspection the story seemed right up my ally. I'm only about a quarter through it right now and so far I am enjoying it very much but I will be back with more on that when I reach the end.

What are you reading in 2012?

  1. I am reading Wildwood, too! I also have Ratgirl on my list by Kristin Hersh and Girls in the Front! I got them all for Christmas, but I am a slow reader.

    1. I just looked both of those up, Girls in the Front looks great! I think I am going to add that to my 2012 list as well.
